She's Growing Up...I'm Not Outgrown

Today I am going back in time. Back to May 13, 2009. Abby was 9 months old. She was 19 lbs 5 oz and 28.5" tall. She had just gotten her first tooth. She was two days away from crawling for the first time.

Hmm, I think I've got you wrapped around my finger!

Practicing to be on the move!

I'm a happy girl.
Though those baby days were hard, there is a part of me that misses them. She needed me so much more at that time. Now, it's easy to think she has outgrown me in a way. Well, while it's true that she doesn't need me to carry her around or change her diaper or feed her there are a lot of things she does need me for. And, I'm listing things that are a little less tangible than cooking. ;)

1) An example. She's watching me. I'd be foolish to think she wasn't. She picks up on words, attitudes, and behaviors. I need to live intentionally to leave her a good example.

2) Encouragement. As she grows this world is going to give her the opposite. I need to show her that I am always in her corner despite any mistakes she might make.

3) Prayer. I need to be praying for her on a consistent basis not just every once in a while. I need to fight for her every day because Satan is fighting for her too.

4) Love. Though she will not always let me cuddle or kiss her she always needs my love.

5) Comfort. When she is hurt or sad she needs me to give her words of comfort. Hugs. Medicine kisses.

ahh number 1 is so good to keep in mind as both me and my husband both say things sometimes that we wouldn't want our baby to repeat!!
