Since I cannot convince Abby to stay four for the rest of her life, I figure I should start planning her birthday party. I've been looking at Pinterest. I know, a dangerous thing to do. I have found approximately one million cakes I would like to make for her. Now the thing is narrowing it down to, you know, one. Anyone care to help me decide? I am thinking about a fairy-tail princess sort of theme.

Aren't they all adorable? Now, Abby would like this cake. Erm, I don't know if I can pull it off!

So, my question, of course, is this...which cake do you like the best and do I have any hope of making the last one without it looking ridiculous?

Recently, I received the chance to try out Advanced Mineral Makeup. Their products have been used on the set of quite a few television shows so I was quite excited. They have multiple options so you can select the product that fits your needs; Loose Powder Foundation, Pressed Powder Compacts or Liquid Mineral Foundation.

I chose the loose powder, partly because I have never tried powdered mineral makeup before.
Loose Powder Foundation Supercharged 3 in 1 Advanced Loose Mineral foundation functions as a foundation, powder, and concealer! Combining SPF 30 UVA/UVB broad-spectrum protection with Antioxidants A and E to further fight and prevent free radical damage to keep skin feeling and looking like silk. Giving you easy to apply light and beautiful coverage on its own or with other Advanced Mineral products.
It really is a light and silky powder. I chose a shade that may have been a bit too dark for my skin but it worked as a bronzer of sorts for me. Not ideal for everyone so make sure you choose wisely. Some notes to point out.
  • Advanced Mineral Makeup is a 100% natural makeup line. Unlike other makeup brands, it contains no parabens, preservatives, or harsh chemicals that would irritate your skin.
  • Products are used on the set of Grey's Anatomy and NCIS because it's so camera-friendly.
  • Natural looking makeup that just enhances the appearance of your skin.
  • Can be purchased at www.advancedmineralmakeup.com.
I love the fact that it is a 100% natural, non skin irritating line! I think most of us would say we've bought some makeup in the past that, in some way, has bothered our skin. It feels good that the foundation I've been using has the SPF I need as well as Antioxidants. All in all, I am very happy with Advanced Mineral Makeup! Give it a try and let me know what you think as well.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

You know those first and last day of school photos that are so popular? I'm, of course, going to be doing them when Abby starts Kindergarten. I always find it amazing how much the kiddos change in one school year. So, I decided to share photos of our almost school age kiddo.

Sept 2012
You'll notice in the first photo she has a much more baby like face and definitely not as much hair. It was taken at JC Penney's hair salon. Speaking of, she definitely needs a small haircut again!

June 2013
Her face has thinned out and she can even wear ponytails now! Outside of appearance she has changed in so many ways. I thought it would be fun to list some things she can do now!
  • She can go to the bathroom completely independently.
  • For most outfits she can dress and undress herself. (Her fashion sense is still wacky though.)
  • She can tell you what almost any word begins with by looking at it or hearing it.
  • She can spread peanut butter on crackers.
  • She can play games online on Disney Jr or Nick Jr.
  • She prays on her own out loud and in her head.
  • If you show her a certain number of coins and ask her to subtract another number she usually gets it right.

There are many more things but I can't think of them off the top of my head. The point, my friends, is that she is getting to be such a big girl. I love watching her grow up even though I complain that it happens too quickly.

This sweet girl is growing up too fast. Today she came up to me and told me her tooth was wiggly. I didn't truly believe her because she has been talking about a wiggly tooth ever since she got the book Silverlicious by Victoria Kahn. When I checked her tooth, however, it was indeed loose! Now, I don't know how long it will take to fall out but I am not ready for this. How can she be losing baby teeth already? She still feels like my little baby girl. But no, she is starting Kindergarten in almost exactly two months. Yes, two months from today will be the open house at her school. Open house is the night before school actually starts.
I know I am emotional but I almost started crying. About a tooth, yes and so much more.

Yesterday was a bad eating day. I say bad I mean sugar overload. I drank a few sodas, had a bunch of fruit, and more. I went to a girl's game night at a friend's house and it hit me. Anxiety. It was not emotion based anxiety. No, this was a result of the sugar. I felt my throat tightening and just felt very anxious in general. One of my friend's noticed that something was off about me despite me trying to act normal.

In situations like this I have learned to take deep breaths, drink water slowly, and most of all - pray.
I tried to also take my mind off of my thoughts. The more I think about what I am experiencing, the worse it gets.

About half way through the night it eased up. I didn't have anything else to eat or drink except water so that probably helped a bit. I will definitely think twice before overloading with sugar again. As in, I will not do it!

We've been going to a local theater for their Summer Movie program. It really is a great idea. You get 11 movies for $8 and while they are slightly older movies, they are worth it. I love taking Abby to a movie every week. This week was Disney Nature's African Cats.

{via}
I was nervous about this for a couple reasons.

  • I am not a huge fan of lions. I used to have really bad nightmares about being chased and stalked by them. Yeah. Make of that what you will.
  • I didn't know what they would show in terms of gore and any procreation activity. Ahem.
  • It's not a cartoon.
Abby swears she loved it but she had her head buried in my arm for most of the movie. It wasn't as bad as I feared but it definitely had some stuff she hadn't seen before. The cats would chase prey and it would show them eating. I mean, it wasn't the Discovery channel by any means but maybe more than a four almost five year old needs to see.

So, I am wondering if I should take her to the next Disney Nature one. Chimpanzees. Surely it's got to be less violent than African Cats, right?

When a person embarks on a weight loss journey they usually invest their money in many products such as a gym membership, a scale, weights, etc.  But, the one thing I usually see many of my peers forgetting to purchase is a kitchen scale!  One of the biggest diet sabotagers is eating what you think is the right amount of food and then finding out that in fact you may have eaten as much as double your daily allowance!  I remember years ago when I followed Weight Watchers, talking about apples.  While a small apple (149g) has only 78 calories, a large apple (223g) can have close to 120 calories!  And just like everything in the store today being extra large, apples are no exception.  When you are keeping a close eye on your daily calorie intake, being confident in the size and portion of your food is vital!  The Eat Smart Precision Elite Digital Kitchen Scale is the type of product you need to use to rely on complete accuracy!
The Eat Smart Precision Elite is the newest of Eat Smart's products.  I really like it's sleek silver design, making it a stylish accessory to your kitchen counter.  I always keep my scale on the counter, doing so allows for quick & easy access when I am cooking or baking!  The Precision Elite features:
  • EatSmart Precision Elite Accuracy Technology,
  • Easy 2 button operation,
  • Tare Feature - subtraction the weight of any plate or container,
  • Backlit LCD Display, making it very easy to read,
  • Durable & large stainless steel platform,
  • 4 measurement modes:  grams, ounces, kilograms & pounds,
  • Can hold up to 15 pounds and is accurate to +/- .1oz,
  • 3 minute auto-turnoff,
  • Includes 4 AAA batteries
  • FREE Calorie Factors Book

Eat Smart was founded in 2005 and since then they have been devote to creating innovative health care products that fit the needs of their customers and the community around them.  Every product Eat Smart carries comes with their 100% Eat Smart Satisfaction Guarantee.  If it does not meet your standards, return it for a replacement or a refund.  The Precision Elite comes with a 2 year warranty.
All of the Eat Smart products can be found on Amazon and the Precision Elite Kitchen Scale retails for $34.95 with free shipping and handling.
