These books are some of our favorites. They are fun to read for both of us and make us giggle. I think that's the best part of any good book! So count with us as I share our SIX favorite funny books! (And, the photos are affiliate links if you would like to buy the book and help me earn money!)

I knew from the first time we read this that it would be a favorite. She giggled and nearly snorted at the thought of what underwear each animal would wear.
"There's a new zoo in town, and here's what I've heard THE UNDERPANTS ZOO is completely absurd."

This one has an inviting and fun rhythm to it. Oh, and the end was the best part. Here is the gist;
Pete the Cat is wearing his favorite shirt—the one with the four totally groovy buttons. But when one falls off, does Pete cry? Goodness, no! He just keeps on singing his song!

She grew a huge squash and then didn't know what to do with it. It kept growing and growing! Don't worry, she figures it out!
"She slapped it and scolded it, pinched it and kicked it and then she took hold of its stem...
and she picked it."

Crispin the dragon is not a typical dragon but he is quite funny!
Everybody knows your typical dragon breathes fire. But when Crispin tries to breathe fire on his seventh birthday, fire doesn't come out—only whipped cream! Each time Crispin tries to breathe fire, he ends up with Band-Aids, marshmallows, teddy bears? Crispin wonders if he’ll ever find his inner fire. But when a family emergency breaks out, it takes a little dragon with not-so-typical abilities to save the day. With wry humor and whimsical illustrations, Not Your Typical Dragon is the perfect story for any child who can't help feeling a little bit different.

A sleepover is planned at Rabbits BIG house, only it's not as big as they thought! The illustrations are silly.
Douglas is excited to go to Rabbit's sleepover. On his way he runs into Little Sheep and invites him along too. But Douglas brings along more guests than he realizes! With too many animals and not enough space, how will anyone ever get to sleep? Douglas finds the perfect solution in this hilarious third book in the Douglas series.

This book reminds me of the rhyme “This Is the House That Jack Built,”
“And on that granny / there is a child / a dreaming child / on a snoring granny / on a cozy bed / in a napping house, / where everyone is sleeping.” Included in the napping house is a dozing dog, a snoozing cat, a slumbering mouse, and a wakeful flea who ends up toppling the whole sleep heap with one chomp!
I hope you check one or all of these silly and fun books out with your child. Let me know what you think! What books would you add to this list?

Does anyone else have a love/hate relationship with grocery shopping? Seriously, I love having delicious food in the house but I hate spending the money and making the decisions of what to buy. I know I'm not alone in this. And, I will do whatever it takes to avoid taking our 5 year old shopping for groceries with me. She whines and begs all the way through the store.

It's a lot easier now that we are shopping differently though. This is what I buy now; meat, veggies, fruit. Add in nuts, quinoa, whole wheat bread, eggs, and almond milk. That is the bulk of it. Granted there are a few other things obviously like honey and almond butter but it is not much hassle to shop anymore. I love it!

This is a photo of a fridge that is filled like ours. It is not ours because I am still cleaning it out. This one is from Pinterest and it shows a fridge filled with Daniel Plan foods.

Week 3 The Daniel Plan fridge make-over continues...

Another thing I love? The fact that I am wearing clothes I haven't been able to wear in a long time. Oh, and the scale...the number keeps going down! Miracle of miracles. It's nice to see that instead of going the other way. I've been walking 2.2 miles three to four times every week. That feels good too! Honestly, it has really helped my mood.

Keep on the lookout for more health related posts including recipes. I'd love for you to join me on this journey!

Since becoming a Mom I've noticed that everything is different. I don't watch movies the same way. I don't see media the same way. I think about things I never have before. See, I think that the big, wide world out there is vying for our almost 6 year olds attention. And, honestly, I don't want her to learn from it. I want her to learn the truth. Below are things that I believe and earnestly want her to learn.

God is real. He is with you every moment of every day. He loves you beyond measure.
He is not just an antiquated fictional character in a dusty book.

You can do so much more than you think you can. Our minds are often not a reliable source of what we can do. Why? Because we have moods and emotions. Don't let anyone (even yourself) tell you that you can't do something.

We will always be there for you, loving you and supporting you. No matter what you do. No matter what decisions you make. You are our daughter and we love you.

Anything worth having is worth the wait. If you don't believe me, look in the mirror. We waited what felt like forever for you. I would gladly do it again if need be. The same can be said for anything else that is important.

Being quirky and unique is cool. Trying to be a carbon copy of someone else is not. Seriously, there is only one you. Don't waste "you" by trying to mimic someone else. I've read the quote "Be a first rate version of yourself rather than a second rate version of someone else." and I agree with it whole heartedly.

You are approved by God. His is the only approval you need. This is one that I've just recently begun to understand. We can spend so much time trying to seek approval from others. In the end, others will never fill that void inside you.

Treat everyone the way you would want to be treated, not just the ones you want to be nice to. This is a hard one. The world will tell you to be nice to those you like and avoid everyone else. That's not how I want you to love.

Work hard. If you work hard in life, you will have reason to rest your head well at night. Do all you do to honor God.

Don't make excuses for your faults. Face them head on and with God's help you can overcome them. This is another one that is easier said than done sometimes. I'm working on it now.

You don't need someone else to complete you, despite what Disney might make you think. I think this speaks for itself. Obviously, since I'm a Christian, I believe that God is the one who fills the voids in your life not another person. Don't get me wrong, I love my husband so much but I don't think that "he completes me" like Hollywood would portray.

A while back (as in last summer) I made these Butterbear cupcakes for a Harry Potter movie night with a friend. They were time consuming but absolutely worth it.

Above is everything I needed to make these delectable sweets. Yes, there are a lot of ingredients. And yes, cream soda is one of them. Delish. Side note: I never knew they made a butter flavoring like they do for vanilla extract. Don't leave it out because it makes these awesome!

There is a buttercream frosting as well as a butterscotch ganache. They are not for those who dislike rich, sweet cupcakes. Cause these really are an occasional treat. Below is my finished product...

Stop drooling and make your own! The recipe is over at Amybites.com

I think we've come to the conclusion that our dog is crazy. Banjo is 8 months old now. We are still working on the house training. Seriously, this is worse than potty training. Well, it's close at least. He acts completely psycho sometimes with boundless energy. He's chewed a few pairs of shoes. Not the hubby's shoes for some reason. But, when he's mushy and cuddly - we melt. It's the same as with kids I think. You know, thank goodness they're cute because I am on my last nerve. Or, something like that anyway.

Banjo is addicted to water. Not just any water. Fresh water. Rain water. He acts like a damn fool dragging us out in the rain for a drink. It goes something like this...

"Oh rain! I love rain. Let me lick the slide. Let me lick the chairs. Let me lick the grass blades and run around like an idiot! Nom nom nom."

Every single time this is our experience. Snow is just as bad. He wants to rid Wyoming of all the snow, I swear! Don't believe me? Photo proof right here.

I'm not sure where this love of rain water came from. It's cute but not cute when we are being dragged out into the rain and snow just to get a drink. Even in the house, we give him clean, cold water and he drinks half the bowl right then. But, he doesn't drink the other half. He waits until the next time we give him new water. Eh, dogs are weird sometimes.

I am a member of Influenster and recently I was sent a wonderful box of goodies to try out. It was the Spring Fling VoxBox and here are the products I received! In addition, I also received an adorable pie shaped (and scented) air freshener.

This is my box. It was packed FULL of stuff.

I got Softlips Cube to try. It smells yummy and fruity. More importantly it makes my lips feel very smooth. I am worried about the possibility of my five year old messing up the dome of the product but we'll try to avoid that.

I haven't tried these yet but they look especially easy to use with the tabs on each nail.

This Retro Glam mascara is awesome! I love the shape of the wand as it makes it easy to apply. It makes my eyelashes look full and not fake or clumpy.

Haven't used these yet either but I have only positive things to say about Playtex.

This skin firming hydration body lotion couldn't have come at a better time. It's getting warm here and my skin needed some moisture. It is a nice consistency, absorbs quickly, and doesn't feel greasy to me at all.
