A Letter to My Daughter on Her Last Day of Kindergarten

My mind reels at the thought that in a few short hours you will be a First Grader.Wow, this momma is in denial just a bit. In my mind you are still a little girl but it's clear you are growing up. I'm so proud of you, Abby. You are a sweet, caring girl. You are smart. So smart. You love learning. You love people.

I'm amazed at how well you read and write now. When I told you I would make a journal for you to continue using during the summer, you were so happy you almost knocked me over. Unbelievably, you have also grown like a wildflower this school year. I think in one year you actually grew two inches or more.

You seem bound and determined to grow up. Your braveness has greatly increased this year as well. That in itself makes me happy. I love seeing you do things you didn't think you could do. You bring me joy just by being you.

I pray so many things for you, sweet girl, but most of all I pray that you would allow God to direct your steps. Your future's so bright...you gotta wear shades. (That's an 80's reference. Sorry baby, your momma's getting old.) Wink.

Love,

Momma
