Love, Juliebug: November 2015
Somehow it has already been five weeks since I started school. How is that possible? So, that means I am done with my first two classes. My final grades? A's baby! Technically I don't have my grade back in one class, but there's no way I'm below an A. I'm so proud of myself!

Next up? English Communications and Medical Terminology. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous but that's okay. I know I will make it. I've met some great people so far, as well, so that's great!
As I keep going I know my studying and homework time will increase even more. I'm trying to be prepared for that.

In my new uniform!

I'm so thankful that I have such awesome, supportive people in my life especially my hubby. Love that man! Thank you everyone for your positive comments. I would still appreciate any prayers or thoughts as I continue on.

Christmas has always been special. Growing up we got a new ornament every year (usually Hallmark) and though I loved it I have to admit that I didn't really get it at the time. As the years passed and I matured I began to see how special this tradition is. The truth is my childhood was tied to those ornaments. Each year was marked by what ornament we got. You might understand. When there's a new baby in the family do you get a special ornament to mark that wonderful event? Well, I am definitely one of those people that would.

When I look back at the ornaments on my tree, I see special moments not just ornaments. For instance, when I look at my new Flying Ace Snoopy Red Plane ornament from Hallmark, I remember watching the whole Peanuts gang with my family. There are just some names that can't be forgotten. Woodstock, Charlie Brown, Linus, and especially Snoopy! I grew up watching The Peanuts Gang and now they are part of some special, nostalgic memories. I love that they are still around so I can share the fun with our own kiddo. Who remembers Snoopy as Flying Ace? I do! I do!  Just take a look at all the cuteness!

Not only do I love it but my daughter immediately loved it. It doesn't hurt that it has sound effects and the propeller spins. My point, though, is this: I'm making the same ornament memories with my daughter that I so love from my childhood. My heart warms at the thought of her being able to look back on these ornaments and remember why they are special to us.

Do you have any special Hallmark ornaments on your tree? I'd love to hear all about them!

More from Julie:
We are music lovers in this house. Music plays from our tablets, my phone, and even the tv. Until recently we had to go without music in the shower. Oh yes, we could put our phone or tablet in the room but that comes with its own set of issues. The screens get fogged from moisture. That can't be good for electronics, right? Also, it was hard to hear them sometimes.

So, when I was asked to review the SpeakStick I was intrigued. The SpeakStick is a Bluetooth Waterproof Shower Speaker by SmartMixture.

My whole family LOVES this speaker! It has a giant suction cup on the back to hold on to your shower wall. I was worried that it wouldn't hold it, but it's very secure. It hasn't fallen off yet and we've been using it for awhile.

Another thing about the SpeakStick is that it doesn't require charging very often. I think we've been charging it about every week and a half at most. It uses a USB plugged into your computer to charge. It's not like a portable music player in the traditional sense. It connects to any Bluetooth device such as your phone or tablet. Whatever music you play on that device will come out of the SpeakStick when it is connected. And, it has excellent sound!

If your phone is the device hooked up to it you can answer it in the shower if you so desire, when it rings. I don't use that feature very often because, really, do you need to talk to anyone in the shower? I say that's my down time, personally, but it is very handy.

All in all, I haven't found one thing about this product that I dislike. If you or someone you know enjoys music then check out the SpeakStick. Christmas is fast approaching! It's available in several colors so you can pick the perfect one for your gift recipient.

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Albertsons.  The opinions and text are all mine.

The holidays are coming up. It seems as if they come earlier each year. I'm never quite prepared. This year is already different. I have a delicious recipe or two in my back pocket thanks to PillsburyTM products! They make it easy for me to come up with creative new recipes for my friends and family.

Seriously, what are the holidays without yummy recipes? I originally created a dip called Bacon Cheddar Dip and it is heavenly. I bring it to every get-together and am asked about it constantly. I decided to use a slightly different version as a filling for these pinwheels.

Recently, I stopped by my local Albertson's to buy some ingredients for this new family favorite recipe. I mean, bacon, cheddar cheese, crescent dough? I don't think you can go wrong with those flavors. They make amazing little appetizers. Here is the recipe, just for you!

Bacon Cheddar Pinwheels

8 oz sour cream

8 oz. cream cheese, softened

2 c. shredded cheddar cheese

2 green onions. chopped

3 oz real bacon bits

Dash of black pepper

1 can Pillsbury Crescent Dough Sheet

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Mix the first six ingredients in a bowl.

Unroll the Crescent Dough Sheet. Flatten it out at the edges.

Scoop the filling onto the dough and flatten it out over the dough, making sure to leave a border along the edge with no filling. You want to make sure you have a good amount of filling but not too thick.

Then, you start to roll the dough up. If you roll it along the long edge then you will get many smaller pinwheels. I did it the other direction this time. Press the seam to seal it.

Then, with a very sharp knife cut about 1/2” slices.

Place them on a parchment lined baking sheet.

Bake for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown. Place on a wire rack to cool so they don’t get soggy.

These little beauties are hard to resist. Honestly, I had a hard time not taste testing them immediately, as did my husband and daughter. The pinwheels make a great party food as well as just a snack. Trust me on the last one. Imagine what you could do with Pillsbury too. There are so many possibilities!

What kind of recipes do you make for the holidays? Do they include Pillsbury products?

More from Julie:

The last time we talked, you know - really talked, I was just about to start college. You may have gotten the gist that I was nervous. Nah, not me. Okay, yes. I was definitely nervous. Dare I say it has gotten better? It most definitely has. That's not to say I have lost all worries and fears completely. I am me, after all. So, in case you were wondering how it is going, here is an update. In list form. Because I'm tired.

  • I'm just starting my third week.
  • There are only 10 school days of these particular classes left.
  • It's become obvious to me that I'm too hard on myself. I got a 95% on a homework assignment and beat myself up about it.
  • I'm bummed because I'm having to miss Abby's Veteran's Day program this week.
  • Apparently, I am a different student now. I'm not as worried about answering questions in class anymore.
  • There's a test, my first, coming up on Monday.
  • We also have to give a short speech at the end of one of our classes.
  • Did I mention I worry too much? I've already worried about what I'll do with the kiddo in the summer. Yes, I know it's Fall.
  • I've discovered I can no longer listen to music while studying. In fact, I don't think it was ever a good idea.
  • I'm still trying to figure out how to make time to workout as well. Tricky stuff.
  • So far, I have a 99.94% in one class and a 100% in another.
  • I feel so proud of myself already.

Thank you all for your support and love. I appreciate you all and will keep you posted on my progress!
