Love, Juliebug: March 2016
Today I saw a post over at my friend Rebeckann's Random Thoughts blog that I found interesting so I am borrowing it. She was talking about her daily routine. I never really thought about it before but I have a routine too. I'd bet that we all do! This week has been different. Why? Because Spring Break! Let's not talk about the fact that our Spring Break has been filled with 14 inches of snow and a sick child. Shh.

Stuff, Things, etc.

6:30 am - My alarm starts going off. Snooze. Snooze. Snooze.

7 am - I finally roll out of bed. My phone has run out of snooze. Oh, and Abby comes into our bedroom. Child in face makes me wake up quickly.

7:15 - 8:14 1/2 am - Get Abby ready for school. This means food, clothes, brushed teeth & hair, etc. It takes forever. FOR.EVER. Love that girl but she is exactly like me sometimes. lol

8:15 am - Walk out the door to bring her to 1st grade.

8:45 am - Return home to get myself ready for school. Secretly want to go back to bed. Must resist.

9 am - Pop a freezer/crockpot meal in for dinner.

9:40 am - Leave for school.

10 am - School begins. I probably have a test today.

12 pm - LUNCH TIME! Not sure why I was so excited to write this part. Maybe it's the break in my day?

3 pm - School gets out. Sometimes I stay at school to start my homework. It all depends on how much I have.

3:35 pm - Pick up Abby from school.

4:00 pm - Homework time (for both of us). She says "Haha!" when I tell her I have more homework than her. Heck, I would too.

5:30 pm - Dinner/Dishes. Well, maybe dishes.

6 pm - Watching TV with Tom and Abby or playing games.

7:30 pm - Abby's bedtime. She reads for a half-hour after. Don't tell her this means her bedtime is actually 8 am. Wait, she's realized this already. Dang.

7:45 pm - Homework/Spend time with hubby. Usually I spend time with hubby and then do homework later. Is that bad? Sorry - I love the guy and get very unmotivated to do school work though I DO do it.

10:30 pm - Bedtime...unless there is still more homework or studying to do. And believe me, there is.

11:30 pm - The time I usually am dragging myself into bed. *yawn*

E-mail, Facebook, Blogging....all that gets squeezed in somehow as well. School really puts a damper on my schedule, doesn't it? I suppose that is only normal but someday not too far away I will be working instead and it will not take up my nights so much.

How about you? Tell us about your daily routine!

Seven years old, oh sorry - 7 and a half - and already I can see the conflicting emotions in her. Excited to grow older, to grow up-yet still she has a little girl's sorrow for having to leave me ever. It is never more apparent than at school drop off. She wants to stay with me and let me tell you, she has a mean pouty lip. There have been days that I see tears brimming in her eyes. Sigh.

I'm not ready for the day when she springs out of the car without a second glance saying simply, "Bye mom!" You see, for now, I'm still Mommy. She gives me kisses and lots of hugs. I'm still asked to read bedtime stories to her although she could read them herself now. It warms my heart. I don't think I'll ever be ready for her to grow out of this age. And yet, grow she does. She is growing in so many ways - physically (she's about 52.75" tall people), spiritually (she's got a definite sense of right and wrong), and emotionally, but...she'll always be my baby.

Motherhood is a tough thing sometimes.

Our "job" is to prepare these little people for life. For LIFE. As in the rest of theirs. Don't think I don't feel overwhelmed at this task. (I am blessed that I'm not alone in this. We have my sweetie. Her Daddy. And, he is amazing with her.) But, still...there's a spot in a momma's heart that both cheers and cries at each new step toward independence.

Amazingly, even in all the uncertainty and "toughness" -  I wouldn't trade a minute. Why? Do you see that girl there? She's ours and I'm so proud to be her mom.
We have been looking forward to seeing the movie Zootopia for quite a while now. The whole sloth run DMV drew us in. I mean, seriously, how funny is this?

So, when it came out we were all over that. "YES! I've been waiting forever to watch this." shouted our 7 year old. I have to admit, I was looking forward to it too. After a billion previews, yes a billion, we finally started watching.

To say we were all entranced is an understatement. The humor and fun captured our attention and giggles. And then....

*SPOILER ALERT*

...some of the animals went crazy. There was a scene of a jaguar turning from a friendly-ish jaguar to one who was chasing the main characters and trying to kill them. Our 7 year old is probably more sensitive than most and I love that about her. I don't want her getting used to scary stuff. So, as you can imagine, the jaguar scene made her hide her face in my arm. Okayfine.

Moving along she slowly got back into the movie (although worried that we would see scary jaguar again at some point) then we have a scene where they discover other animals locked up. Other wild, scary animals. At this point I can't even remember which animal it was but one of them jumped up all crazy like from out of nowhere and scared the beejebus out of us. And by us, I mean the whole theater. Moms and Dads and kids alike. Abby screamed as did many others.

This review is not intended to spoil the movie or even to suggest that it's not worth watching. It totally is. It has a great theme from the main characters determination to achieve her goals despite everybody else and all odds seeming to be against her. There is so much more about this that I love. Jason Bateman and Ginnifer Goodwin are two more reasons I adore this movie. Their voices are well suited for the characters of Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps.

So, bottom line... take your kids to see this movie. I think adults and kids alike will enjoy it. Just be careful if you have slightly sensitive children or bedtime might be a tad bit tricky.
I don't know about you, but I grew up loving the Peanuts comics and all the fun Charlie Brown movies. Every year we would watch 'It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" and 'A Charlie Brown Christmas' on television. This was before you could watch them anytime you wanted. Well, at least in my house. So, when I heard about 'The Peanuts Movie' I was excited. Probably more excited than my 7 year old daughter!

This movie definitely has a different feel than the original ones as the animation is different but the fun and spirit of the movie is the same! At the end of this post, I have some awesome printable sheets for your kiddos!

If you've seen the new Peanuts movie, what did you think?
Forty years ago today was a day for the books. That morning, 8 lb. 11 oz of baby cuteness entered the world. My future husband. The man I love. While he is not fond of birthday celebrations, I certainly am. Well, I'm fond of celebrating his birth.
It astounds me to think that even before he was born God had a plan for his life. He knew every hair on his head. Knew what kind of man he would grow to be. I am so blessed to have this man as my husband. I'm so thankful for him.

He works hard for our family. Loves God with all his heart. He has his quirks, everybody has them, like putting strawberry jelly on his runny eggs  or counting steps when he walks up them. These things make me smile because they make him unique.
I have known him for more than half our lives. How is that possible? Sometimes I can't believe we have known each other for so long and yet sometimes I feel like there's no way we ever didn't know each other.
So, today I celebrate the birthday of the man I love. Happy birthday babe! I'm so glad you were born.

Because March 4th is my husband's birthday, I wanted to participate in this flash giveaway! Although, let's not kid ourselves, who needs a reason for a giveaway? Haha. Good luck to you all!
