Book Review: Hope Unfolding

If there's one thing I need more of in my life it's grace. In general, I tend to have abundant grace for other people and next to none for myself. I recently read Hope Unfolding by Becky Thompson. was so well-timed for me. I loved how she wrote as if she were my friend, gently reminding me of God's truth. Throughout the reading, there were questions that I often used as journal prompts. Each chapter ends with three sections: Let's Talk, Let's Pray, and Let's Hope. The first really gets us thinking and asks questions. The prayer section is an actual prayer we can use. I tended to use it as a springboard into my own prayer on the topic. The last section is an affirmation of sorts, reminding us how we should think. Here's an example:
I am not a mess. I am a miracle. God sees value in me. God wants to help me, and I will let Him.
I can always use positive, Bible-based affirmations in my life. If you're anything like me, you tend to struggle with your thought life. Worry. Am I doing enough to be a good wife, mom, and friend? Am I failing at this mom thing? Why am I the only one who can't balance it all? The truth're not alone. God is the one writing your life story. Sometimes we just need to hear that voice of encouragement.

For me, this book is a great help in this area. As it says on the back of her book, "She guides you to encounter the Truth of God’s presence that not only fuels you with strength but also a fresh confidence. And beyond gaining faith that tomorrow could be different, you find hope and purpose where you are standing today."

Couldn't we all use hope and purpose?

I received this book from Blogging for Books for this review.
