Tips For Enjoying This Time of Year

It seems like I stress out so much especially around the holidays. I don't think I'm alone. We want everything to be perfect and full of happy memories. In the process, though, we forget about enjoying ourselves too. We forget that it's okay to do things that make us feel warm, relaxed, and just plain cozy. Here is a list of things that might do that for you. If you can't think of the last time you settled down and just felt happy in the moment. Try one of these things to put a smile on your face.

Put the Christmas tree on with no other lights on in the room.

Put cream on your feet and wear fuzzy socks.

Cuddle on the couch with your family.

Snuggle up with a fluffy, warm blanket.

Have hot tea in your favorite mug.

Watch a movie you adore.

Bake cookies.

Light a candle that smells amazing.

Read a good book.

Play games with the family.

Have someone over for coffee.

Plan a small gathering of some sweet friends. (Potluck style so there's no extra stress!)

Take a drive to look at Christmas lights.

Indulge in a glass (or two) of your favorite wine and enjoy it with some cheese (my fave)

Take a bubble bath.

Write about your day in a journal.

Sit by yourself in the quiet and think about a time where you truly felt joyful.

Listen to music that makes you happy.

What things make YOU feel cozy and happy?

I'm all about potluck style for everything! This is my second Christmas of with no family, it's super nice to have no stress and I am happy that it is that way, as weird as that sounds.

The month of December is the Silly Season for me. I literally have no time to do much of anything. My girls are in various orchestras and chambers and have so may recitals during this month I ca barely breathe.

Snuggling up with a hot mug of tea and a snuggly blanket sounds like the perfect combination to me. Especially since it is so cold outside!

There's something soothing about a comfy couch with family and a lit Christmas tree that makes me enjoy this time of year. :)

This is a great list! Many of my favorite things to do are on there, but the best is hot cocoa, holiday movies, and snuggling on the couch with my kiddos!

Great tips! My favorite thing about the holiday season is the lights on the tree lit with no other light in the room. It's the reason I put my tree up as soon as Halloween is over, and super depressed to take it down.

Some really great ideas, thank you. It's really important to take time out for yourself before the hecticness of Christmas takes over.
