Our 4th of July

Our day started off with some delicious biscuits and gravy. No photo of that due to how fast it was scarfed down. Yes, we sure like our homemade biscuits and gravy. Mmm. So glad I learned how to make that. Making our 4th of July cake was next on the list. I was nervous about having to cut the two layers in half to make the red/white/blue pattern on the inside but it worked. Then, I used the adorable star marshmallows I found at Walmart for decoration.

We went over to our friend's house where we roasted hotdogs over a fire and lit off fireworks. I have to admit I am not a huge fan of fireworks because I am a nervous nelly. However, it was a lot of fun and we all really enjoyed ourselves. It was fun to see Abby (and the other kids) enjoy snaps for the first time. There was also these super cool fireworks that shot little parachute men up into the air for the kids to find. I never did anything like that as a kid.

What did you do to celebrate Independence Day?
