Dinner Made Fast: French Bread Pizza

Dinner will be on the table within 20 minutes with simple yet delicious French Bread Pizza!

Many of my favorite childhood memories revolve around food. One in particular has to do with a certain brand of frozen french bread pizzas. My mom and I would occasionally enjoy them together. It was a special event sort of thing. I never thought about the possibility of having them homemade. Blow my mind. They are super easy and quick to make as well as EVEN BETTER than the store bought counterpart. I hope you enjoy!

Start by slicing a loaf of french bread in half and cover it with your favorite marinara sauce. I use Skinnytaste.com's recipe for Quick Marinara Sauce.  I make this a lot because it is easy and delicious. Then, if you are going to add meat to your pizza, add the meat so it doesn't fall off. I used pepperoni because in our house it is almost sacrilegious to speak of pizza without it.

Top it with cheese, normally you use mozzarella and you certainly can stick to tradition. I happened to only have Colby-Jack on hand so I went with the flow. Food is easy like that.

And now comes the fun part...add any topping your heart desires. My heart was indecisive. Actually, my whole family just happens to like different things. The plain pepperoni was for my hubby, the pepperoni and olive for our 6 year old, and the pepperoni, mushroom, and green pepper was ALL MINE. Pop those bad boys into a 350 degree oven for 15 minutes. Look at this gorgeousness!

Here is a slice of my yummy pizza. I'm drooling. This is quicker than that frozen stuff and, can I just say, SO much better tasting?! Yep, I said it.

  • 1 loaf of french bread
  • 1-2 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded cheese
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
  • Your favorite pizza toppings (pepperoni, veggies, sausage - be creative!)
  1. Slice french bread loaf in half, lengthwise.
  2. Spread each half with sauce.
  3. Top with cheese.
  4. Add your favorite pizza toppings, Italian seasoning, and Parmesan cheese.
  5. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 15 minutes. Or, as my MIL used to say, until the cheese is bubbly.
  6. Allow to cool then enjoy! Don't leave out this step as it makes the cheese set. You don't want all the gooey cheese to slide off the pizza when you slice it.

Great idea. French bread is much cheaper than the pizza crust!

I love the crustiness of french bread pizza and it's great that we can all have different ones without having to buy a couple of different types.
