#ThursdayThirteen - Movies I've Loved Lately

Today I'm going to share thirteen movies I have loved. They may or may not be new releases. They also may or may not be kids movies. Hey, what can I say? I'm mom to an 8 year old!

1. Doctor Strange: I am not by any means into movies based on comic books but this was a great movie. Lots of action and it kept totally awake. Which, these days, is hard to do.

2. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: I am, as you might know, a huge Potterhead. This movie was exciting. I loved stepping back into the wizard world. It had a lot of action as well.

3. Into the Woods: Can I first say I had no idea this was a musical? What planet have I been living on? I loved the music in this movie. And, the premise was imaginative as well.

4. Bad Moms: I have a hard time putting this one on here because man does it have bad language in it. BUT I love the message and the actors in it. So, I am not going to tell you to run out and watch it but I like it.

5. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children: I find I'm always drawn to quirky movies. Guess I'm a quirky person. The special kids and the time element kept me interested. There were a few freaky parts that were out of my element however.

6. Pete's Dragon: I don't normally love remakes and was fearing this one due to the fact that I adore the original musical version. However, I just thought this was so well done. It was emotional and hit all the right notes.

7. Now You See Me 2: I just had to love this one because I love the cast and also because I loved the first one so much. It's not the same and I do like the first one more but that's neither here nor there.

8. Clue: Yes, I've just finally watched this movie. I don't know how I've gone so long without watching it. I thought it was hilarious and reminded me of another favorite, "Noises Off".

9. Finding Dory: There was something sweet about this movie. As a mom, I watched it from the eyes of a mom. I think we all look at our kids and wonder how they will fair on their own. Seeing little Dory was precious and her voice was the same. Loved the underlying messages in this movie.

10. Hairspray Live: The live musicals that have graced our tv screens lately have gotten a lot of bad publicity. I have enjoyed them all for what they are....not movie remakes but live versions of musicals. As a former choir geek I am a huge fan of musicals as it is and this one was well done.

11. Step Up: I don't know what took me so long to watch this. I typically love dance movies and I didn't even know who the main stars were initially. Seriously. I always wish I was born with the "dancing gene" but I suppose I should be happy with the things I've been gifted with.

12. Goosebumps: And to think I was worried this would be too scary for me. I loved the storyline being about R.L. Stine. It was a movie that both me and the kiddo liked.

13. Alice Through the Looking Glass: Johnny Depp. Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway. Enough said.
